In 2011, Karen Weigert was appointed to the dual role of Chief Sustainability Officer of the City of Chicago, and First Deputy Commissioner of Chicago's Department of Environment. In this unique position, Karen guides the City’s sustainability strategy and implementation, bringing innovative, practical solutions to a range of issues across City departments.
